Government Agencies that Handle Consumer Complaints

In an effort to protect consumers and fight corporate fraud, we are providing you with information on various Governmental Agencies you can contact to file complaints. Because the differences in these agencies is sometimes very subtle and it can be difficult to determine who you should contact, if you have any questions, we are always here to help. You can always send an email to us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Additionally, depending on the company you are filing a complaint about, there may be additional agencies you should contact, and we can help you determine that.

Federal Trade Commission

File complaints against companies online at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

The Federal Trade Commission does not resolve individual consumer complaints, but they will keep a file of complaints against businesses, and if they receive enough complaints about a business, they will look into their practices. The FTC will handle pretty much all complaints about corporate fraud, deception, and unfair business practices. The FTC was originally designed to deal with unfair methods of competition and monopolistic practices, but they have evolved into a full consumer protection agency.

Federal Communications Commission

File complaints against companies online at http://reboot.fcc.gov/consumers/

The FCC is responsible for regulating all interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable. The FCC should be contacted if you have a complaint about a business that's related to the aforementioned categories. If, for example, a telemarketing company or debt collector is harassing you by continuously calling you, you should file a complaint with the FCC. There are many other examples of times you should file a complaint with them, and if you are wondering whether you should or not, feel free to contact us.

State Attorneys General

Each state has it's own Attorney General and all of them handle complaints differently. Some allow complaints to be filed online, while some require you to email complaints or even send them through the mail. The State Attorneys General may be the best method for protecting yourself and others from corporate fraud and deception. They will also place more importance on individual complaints, and because they only deal with one businesses in one state, they can devote more time to each individual complaint than Federal Agencies can. When you have a complaint about a business, you should file a complaint with the Attorney General in your state, as well as the Attorney General in the state where the business is operating from. If you need help determining what state the business is operating from, or need any assistance in finding the method to contact an Attorney General, don't hesitate to contact us.
We have collected all of the sites for filing complaints with State Attorneys General and similar agencies. View that information here.
